Sweet Pea and Rose Show 2021 Results

Sweet Pea and Rose Show With Peonies and Mixed Flowers 2021

The gazebos were borrowed, the tables put up and the flowers all arrived with all the volunteers and exhibitors keeping within government Covid guidelines.  In the afternoon, the sun came out and our members and guests arrived to look at the splendid display of sweet peas, roses, mixed flowers, and a few peonies.

There was also a display of member’s art contributions.

The Show was a great success, and everyone enjoyed being outside, albeit socially distanced, but enjoying strawberries and cream, bucks fizz,  tea and cake.

The Trophy winners for the flowers were:

Derek Florin and Alan Grierson, joint The Frank Mercer Cup for highest aggregate points, SWEET PEAS

Davina and Arun Rishi, The George Jennings Cup,  for highest aggregate points, ROSES

Sue Woollard, The Ron Brand Bowl,  for Best in Show, ROSES

Derek Florin, The Derek Florin Cup for Best in Show, SWEET PEAS

Alan Grierson, The Amani Iqbal Award for Best in Show, PEONIES

Maria Williams, Temporary award for the Best in Show, MIXED FLOWERS

Art Display: Winner, Evelyn Craven, 2nd, Kenneth Wong, 3rd Bernard Puckett
(This was judged by an artist critic, and we had no personal choice this year, due to social distancing)

TRADING HUT RE-OPENING 2021

The trading hut at Cheyne Walk allotment site will re-open on 17th January 2021 From 10 a.m. until approximately 12 noon.

Thereafter it will open every Saturday and Sunday in season from 10 a.m. until approximately 12 noon until further notice.
During the current Covid Crisis, purchases must be pre-ordered and will be made available on timed collection slots.  Please contact secretary@gphs.org.uk for further details
Please note that membership subscriptions for 2021 must be paid in advance of placing an order.
The following new stock items are still available:
  • HUMAX COMPOST 60 LITRE BAG £6.50
  • CLOVER MULTI-PURPOSE 75 LITRE BAG £5.60
  • PEAT FREE 50 LITRE BAG £6.20
  • GROW BAGS £3 EACH

In in addition to the above we are fully stocked with general fertilizers, netting, hoops fleece, plant labels, twines, slug killer, assorted sizes of canes, plant foods Pathclear/weed killer and much more. Prices available on request.
